As for winged rocket technology, development work is in progress with H-2 Orbiting Plane (HOPE) project. Vertical landing technology is advantageous for large quantity transportation and is in common use for lunar landing exploration. Flight experiment of Delta Clipper is in progress in U.S.A. In this research work, vertical landing experiments on the ground are planned as the initial step to establish vertical landing technology using rocket engines. On vertical landing technology, this report contains following items: (1) study of the mission; (2) study of the system (engine, overall configuration, system construction, control, etc.); (3) study of the subsystem (propulsion system, construction system, heat control system, navigation, guidance, and control system, electrical system, total construction, and general plan for flight tests); (4) study on the ground facilities; (5) service plan; and (6) development
