This paper describes the content of the new mechanisms together with an outline of the replacement process. The driving mechanism, which is used to set the nozzle wall contour through positioning all ten jacks attached to the wall, is changed from a hydraulic-based system to an electric-based one taking advantage of the recent development in the power range of electric servo-motors. The choice of the electric system was made based on the standpoint of the maintainability and controllability. The control mechanism is changed from a mechanical analog system to a computer-controlled digital system. In the former system, a set of cams, one for each of ten jacks, was employed to determine the jack positions in a coordinated manner. In the new system, each jack motion is ruled independently from the others by the instruction from the computer. Some of the performance test results are given to illustrate the characteristics of the new flexible nozzle
