Both static and fatigue tests were conducted at room temperature. Static tests clarified the relationship between load and deformation of a pin-joint hole and bearing strength. Fatigue tests clarified the relationships of load cycles and deformation of a pin-joint hole, S-N (Stress and Number of cycle) relationships, residual bearing strength, and the influence of the load cycle rate on fatigue life. Before and after static and fatigue tests, the edges around pin-joint holes were non destructively tested by using an ultrasonic type C scan technology and a soft X-ray method to investigate damage growth.
