But, the initial performance of the grooving deteriorates due to the rubber deposits on runway surfaces. Therefore, a new method of measuring and evaluating the runway surface texture was developed. Using this new method, surface texture measuring tests of the grooved runway at Tokyo International Airport were conducted right before and after rubber removal. The operational runway texture data obtained can be used as a reference to provide safe management of grooved
