This simulation is based on the distributions of two parameter estimates of a regression line and the reasonable correlation of the two parameter estimates. One cycle of the Monte Carlo scheme generates a set of parameter estimates which give a life of fatigue crack propagation. The analyzed data were obtained by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) observation of a fatigue fracture surface of the rod end housing of a hydraulic actuator, which was used for a main landing gear in transport aircraft. A conventional regression analysis provides a set of two deterministic parameter estimates, a life estimate of fatigue crack propagation, and the statistical properties of striation
