To provide this wide field of view, a new display screen which itself could emit the light was designed. This kind of screen is called 'a self-luminescence display'. For the self-luminescence display, optical fibers as well as a CRT or a liquid crystal display are used. To investigate the applicability of plastic fibers for a self-luminescence display for use in flight simulators, a trial display was prepared. Two displays of the same size were made, both of which were 900 mm in height and 1200 mm in length. The fiber's diameter is 0.75 mm, and the total number of fibers is 34,400 per display. The validities of a fiber display were tested and the following conclusions were reached: (1) brightness is sufficient; (2) angle of view is limited and too narrow for practical use; and (3) picture
