In this tank, the thrust and fan flow are measured with great accuracy by using a balance and a sonic venturi meter, respectively. Also, the tank itself is made of an airtight container in order to get the pressure ratio equivalent to the Mach number at a wind tunnel test. This paper describes the outline, functions and characteristics of the tank, and also the thrust calibration at the low speed simulation. The characteristics of the tank are as follows. (1) The sonic pressure ratio, and the pressure ratio equivalent to the simulating Mach number can be set up in the tank. (2) The influence on the balance can be reduced to some extent by introducing a differential pressure compensating bellows system, an interference elimination system with six degrees of freedom of piping, etc. (3) It is necessary to use the air-exhaust ventilator of the transonic wind tunnel or an apparatus with the ventilating capacity similar to the ventilator for the fixation of transonic
