The program comprises development and flight tests of two types of unmanned experimental airplanes consisting of a non-powered and a twinjet ones. The advanced computational design system based on NAL's original CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) technology is the main subject to be validated by the experimental airplanes. The inverse method, optimization and system integration including multi-disciplinary treatment are being studied and the fruits are applied to the aerodynamic design of the experimental airplanes. The non-powered airplane deals with inverse method for the natural laminar flow wing and the twinjet powered one will do with aerodynamic optimization design for whole airplane and some important component technologies. The flight tests of the non-powered airplane will be conducted in 2002 in Australia. Successively, the jet-powered airplane will be tested as the final phase of the
