The measurement techniques are based on Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF). Radiation of Nd YAG pumped dye laser with doubling and mixing optical equipments is tuned to a wavelength corresponding to the desired fluorescence transition of the (0,0) band of the NO A(sup 2)Sigma(+) from X(sup 2)2 system, and focused across a plane within the flame. An intensified CCD camera was used to measure the fluorescence distribution originating from the laser-excited plane. Reacting fields in diffusion flames behind three models of the V-gutter type flameholder have been developed for a ramjet combustor, and were measured at atmospheric pressure. The results clarified that the distribution pattern of the generated thermal NO is dependent on the combustion conditions and the structure of
