Diffusion couple samples were melted, and solidified under various cooling conditions. The concentration distributions were analyzed after solidification. It was found that the volume change effect can be avoided at low cooling rate and this condition is preferable for self- and impurity diffusion measurements, in which the segregation effect doesn't need to be considered.
