In aeronautics and astronautics the visualization of large scale numerical data, gained from computer simulation or experimental instrumentation, is important in improving the understanding of natural phenomena. A real aircraft accident which occurred on August 12th 1985 in Japan was visualized using computer graphics. The attitude aud location data of the aircraft were obtained from the on board DFDR (Digital Flight Data Recorder). We tried to make the animation as realistic as possible. In the animation we could observe quite clearly the shaking of the aircraft at the outset of the accident and the dutch roll and fugoid oscillation In this paper, the data which were used to make the animation and the method by which the animation was generated are given. |
