 note = {The present paper attempts to give an overview for a construction of a class of shock-capturing difference methods. Scope of the overview extends over not only explicit but also implicit methods. Special emphasis will be on the concepts underlying the construction method rather than the techniques in practice, because practical schemes obtainable by applying the present method will be of wider variety than those obtained in the state-of-the-art developments.
