A preliminary study on the software system for a parallel processor with a distributed memory is described. One of the reasons for the difficulty in parallel programmings on the distrbuted memory-parallel processors lies in requirement such that both the procedures and array data be allocated on the same processor. Considering the CFD program characteristics, the authors present a fundamental function of the FORTRAN compiler and the operating system, which cover a logical global memory, procedure and data allocation onto a processor, and parallel execution scheme. Also proposed is the users responsibility in writing parallel programs. |
