Development of disturbances in, and transition to turbulence of, a laminar boundary layer on a flat plate caused by free stream disturbances which are in turn introduced by a stational circular cylinder or an impulsively swung wing near the layer is investigated. For most cases, transition to turbulence is observed at a place where disturbance by the cylinder or the wing supposedly first arrives at the boundary layer. |
