At small Reynolds numbers, the flow is steady and symmetric along the centerline between two parallel disks. It is found that the symmetric steady flow becomes asymmetric above a critical Reynolds number, which is revealed due to a supercritical pitchfork bifurcation. The transition from the steady symmetric flow to the asymmetric one depends the inlet radius at which the flow is introduced. The critical Reynolds number is determined as a function of the inlet radius.
