As part of successful achievement of the program, the first experimental engine JR 100 was completed in 1964 and its relia- bility has been increased by examining all the parts subject to endurance tests. The second engine JR 200 is under trial-run. Each one of these engines has an annular-type, high thermal loading combustor with swirl (duple-type) atomizers and air-swirlers. At the beginning of the running of JR 100 and JR 200, an oscillatory burning was observed at just below the idling condition. Therefore, com- bustion tests of the combustor assembly were carried out to investigate the causes or the factors influencing on the oscillatory burning. The following two types of oscillation were observed: The first type: it occurs accompanying the unstable flames behind each air-swirler and is usually in the range of an air-fuel ratio of 65-90. The roar heard is simmilar to an organ-pipe resonator's sound. The second type: it is caused by a fuel-rich condition in the primary combustion zone. The flame flickers and lengthens, and as a result of this, the combustion efficiency deteriorates considerably. This oscillation limit lies in smaller air-fuel ratios than the case of the first type. Most of the oscillatory burnings in the engines are expected to be of the first type. The authors have then considered the following counterplans to prevent oscillations. (1) Ameliorating of flow patterns behind the air-swirler to get optimum swirling angle. (2) Increasing in flow rate of cooling air through the air-holes around the fuelnozzle tips. (3) Controlling of fuel flow rate-ratios between main and primary nozzles. These plans were effective with respect of the engines, and the oscillatory burning vanished entirely under normal running conditions., 資料番号: NALTM0170000, レポート番号: NAL TM-170}, title = {JRエンジンの燃焼器に起きた振動燃焼}, year = {1970} }
