Waseda University, International Conference Center), Tokyo Japan, We propose a simple yet effient wall-modeling in large-eddy simulation at very high Reynolds numbers. The proposed wall models wall shear stress directly and thus is sifferent from popular hybrid LES/RANS and DES approaces. The model stems directly from considerations of how turbulence lenghth scales behave in the logarithmic layer, and thus in other words the method is based solidly on physical reasoning. Surpersonic turbulent boundary layers on a flat plate at very high and moderately high Reynolds numbers. Mach 1.69 and Re(sub theta)=50,000, are simulated. The resulting method is shown to accurately predict equilibrium boundary layer, with both realistic instantaneous fields and accurate turbulent statistics.
