Aero-Space Development Agency has undertaken a series of flight tests for attitude control systems with gas jets,and found that it is very difficult to despin the vehicle during the 1st stage and the earlier period of the 2nd stage.Moreover the telemetered data tell that when we blow the gas jets in roll-control positions,the adverse rolling moment acts on the vehicle.The rolling moment acting on the vehicle under control is primarily devided into three elements:the rolling moment due to misalignment, rolling moment generated by gas jets and aerodynamic damping moment.However in the case of the nose-mounted control systems we must add the fourth rolling moment which is due to the flow induced by the gas jets.Among these tests,data of “JCR-6” and “JCR-7” are numerically analysed and divided into each elements,and it is found that for gas jet effect sometimes the induced folling moment exceeds the twice of the immediate rolling moment.If we assume that the momentum of the induced flow is cabout air density,the mass flow of the induced air becomes proportional to √ρ.Consequently the momentum of the flow which strikes against the tail-wing is proportional to √ρ.This momentum is changed to rolling moment after impact.On this assumption,strength of the induced rolling moment is estimated,and it comes up to the analysed
