The PAPI system was placed at the left side of runway 28 at Gifu airfield as a visual approach guidance aid for both STOL and CTOL landings. This system is composed of eight-light units arranged in a line perpendicular to the runway. The beam angle of four units is set at six degrees for STOL approach and that of the other four units is set at three degrees for CTOL approach.
