| 内容記述 | The non-linear theory developed in Part 2 for parallel flows is applied to a nearly parallel flow in the boundary layer on a flat plate. Both the variation of the boundary-layer thickness with distance downstream and the normal component of the velocity of the basic steady flow are taken into consideration for solution of the equation for mean-flow distortion. Numerical calculations are carried out for a range of values of frequency and Reynolds number. The results are exhibited in the form of a stability diagram for finite disturbances, which is found to be similar to that for the plane Poiseuille flow. Moreover, a detailed investigation is made of the behaviour of disturbances in the vicinity of the upper branch of the neutral curve for infinitesimal disturbances, with a view to drawing comparison with the experimental investigation by Klebanoff, Tidstrom and Sargent. | |||||||||
