In this method, a constant jet thrust is continuously applied during an entire spin period, thereby preventing the angular momentum of the satellite from changing, while the initial nutation is arbitrarily controlled by selective jet firing timing. The nutational behavior of both stable and unstable asymmetric satellites is analized through transforming the nutational motion into an eccentric anomaly expression.Theoretically, this transformation makes possible elimination of the asymmetry of the satellite and determination of optimum jet firing timing. Finally, hardware simulation results using an air-bearing table were employed to verify the method.
