| 内容記述 | Various plotting methods have been proposed to show a sample of finite size drawn from the population on a probability paper. Almost all provide cumulative probabilities, each of which corresponds to a representative, i.e., mean, median or mode, of i-th order statistics in the sample of size n or of the cumulative probability corresponding to i-th order statistics. Hence, they do not seem to be pertinent in the case where the population parameters are to be estimated using a probability paper. This paper proposes a new plotting method the purpose of which is to estimate the population mean and variance of a Normal or a Log-normal distribution. The probability paper permits the square root of the unbiased variance to be directly estimated, instead of the variance. A comparison of the estimated population parameters of Normal distribution by various plotting methods show that the proposed plotting method produces excellent estimates. | |||||||||
