The study simulates an evaporation process of a liquid fuel mass on a linear wall or on a vaporizer wall of an aircraft gas turbine combustor. The evaporation process and the temperature distribution on the walls produce significant effects on the amount of unburned exhaust hydrocarbons from a combustor and on the performance of a vaporizer. Evaporation of water, in place of a liquid fuel, was measured in the experiment as the first step of the study. An infrared type thermometer was employed in the measurement of the plate temperature distribution. Calculations of plate temperature distributions and the evaporation rate of the water mass by a finite element method were conducted assuming simplified models based on the experiment.
