A technique for printing moire grating on the surface of ultra-thin materials and a testing procedure to accurately measure the strain on such materials, are contrived. The specimen gratings are recorded on the films by taking photographs of specimens under testing with the testing procedure. Moire fringe patterns from underformed gratings and deformed gratings are observed by inserting the films into the optical spatial filtering system with coherent light. The differences between the fringe patterns depend on only in-plane displacement. Strain components are determined from the differences. The method was applied to strain analysis for tensile tests and creep tests of two kinds of thin materials which were manufactured for trial use in balloon satellite structures. The materials are thin polyestel sheets reinforced with glass fiber cloth and thin composites consisting of polyethylene terephtalate film sandwiched between two layers of aluminum foil. The results of these tests indicated that the method was applicable to strain analysis and flaw detection in ultra-thin materials. Moreover, the mechanical properties of these thin composites were clarified with these tests., 資料番号: NALTR0754000, レポート番号: NAL TR-754}, title = {モアレ法による薄い複合材料のひずみ解析}, year = {1983} }
