The face material was made of 8-harness-satin CFRP, two plies of ±45deg orientation. The elastic constants and in-plane shear strength of the CFRP face members were calculated theoretically. Three sandwich panels were fabricated and loaded in shear by applying tensile load through the diagonally opposite corners of a picture frame test fixture. The calculated results reasonably predicted the test results.
