A new high pressure combustion test facility was constructed in the National Aerospace Laboratory, Tokyo, to assist the national project for developing a high efficiency combined cycle gas turbine. It enables continuous combustion tests by an air mass flow of 4 kg/s at a pressure of 5.53 MPa and a temperature of 736 K in the design condition. Two kinds of fuel, i.e., natural gas and kerosene, are available for tests at a maximum supply pressure of 10 MPa. In this paper, datails of the planning of the facility and the structure are described. In designing the building, special care was taken to prevent anticipated noise pollution of the surrounding area. Test runs, made early in the spring of 1983, proved successful. |
