The blade of the windmill was basically designed so as to vary its geometry in such a way that the aerodynamic efficiency becomes maximum and then was fabricated with minor modifications needed to satisfy structural requirements. To confirm the aerodynamic characteristics of the windmill rotor, a wind tunnel test of a 22％ scale model was performed in the NAL low-speed wind tunnel. Measurements were made of the efficiency, torque, axial drag force and initial torque for various combinations of the pitch angle and the tip speed ratio for a zero yaw angle. The data were corrected for the wake blockage effect. The yaw characteristics of the windmill were also measured.
