Some examples of early detection of bearing failure using piezoelectric accelerometers were introduced in our previous reports. However, the dimensions of the defects which could be detected by our method were not identified. In this report, the practical limit of defect detection of radially loaded ball bearings was evaluated by measurement and analysis of the vibrations of test bearings which had been purposely made defective. It was shown that a defect of 0.3mm diameter could be detected by the accelerometers mounted on the bearing housing. This means that flakings which are generated in heavily loaded bearings can be detected at a very early stage of bearing failure., 資料番号: NALTR0902000, レポート番号: NAL TR-902}, title = {An Investigation of Early Detection of Defects in Ball Bearings by Vibration Monitoring (3rd Report, Detection Limit of Flaking)}, year = {1986} }
