| 内容記述 | The objective of this study is to compare eight kinds of plotting methods used on normal probability paper and to select appropriate methods for estimating the parameters when a personal computer is available. Suppose that the data from complete samples are plotted on the coordinates of normal probability paper by using each plotting method and the parameters are estimated by the least-squares methods with and without weights. As criteria for comparison this study uses expected values, mean square errors, and variances of the estimators of the population parameters, as well as the mean square difference of the parameter estimates derived by each graphical method and the moments method. These values are derived by analysis and Monte-Carlo simulation for samples of sizes two to 20 and are graphically illustrated. The eight kinds of plotting methods are compared on the basis of the obtained results. This study recommends the symmetrical sample cumulative distribution function and the cumulative probabilities corresponding to normal scores for practical use. | |||||||||
