Impact velocities from 80-280 m/s were obtained using a high pressure nitrogen gas gun, with all the tested target specimens being mounted in a frame type fixture. The impact and residual velocities were measured by electronic counters connected to a system composed of two photo-cells and two infrared LEDs, and the tangential and radial direction dynamic strains were directly recorded.
