A theoretical model of self-illumination correction by W. M. Ruyten was applied to two, square, painted samples and a wind tunnel test of the MU-300 model. The spatially averaged reflection coefficient of 0.75 was determined for a pressure sensitive paint PtOEP-GP197 by measurement on the two, square, painted samples at a range of included angles. As a result, the applicability of the self-illumination correction method was validated.
