The NAL's Do228 is equipped with a research air data system and a DGPS/INS (Differential Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System) hybrid navigation system, which enable it to measure winds aloft accurately. In the flight test, atmospheric turbulence along the approach path was measured successfully. The flight test results corresponded to the results of the Doppler SODAR's wind measurement, which can measure winds up to 400 meters high using sonic echo, so that the reliability of the flight test results was verified. The flight test results were also compared with the numerical simulation results which were conducted by the Japan Weather Association.
