| 内容記述 | Synthetic aperture radar offers high spatial resolution data, which can be valuable in a range of hydrologic and agricultural applications. This research project evaluated the ALOS PALSAR instrument as a source of soil moisture information. The L-band frequency and multiple polarizations offered new opportunities. The operational characteristics of the mission limited the type and amount of data that could be acquired at mid-latitudes for soil moisture research. There is some potential in using PALSAR to support algorithm research and development for the future Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) satellite. It is anticipated that synergies between SMAP and ALOS-2 will be exploited in the future. | |||||||||||
