We have been studying a center anode coaxial Pulsed Plasma Thruster (PPT) for smallsats. It consists of a central anode, a cathode and a solid propellant. To guide the development of coaxial PPTs in future, a center cathode coaxial PPT was developed and compared performances with a center anode coaxial PPT with 8 J class in this study. A central axis electrode was 4 mm in diameter. As a result, a center cathode coaxial PPT operated more than 70,000 shots. Its average impulse bit was approximately 90 μNs. In comparison with a center anode coaxial PPT, a center cathode coaxial PPT was similar performance to it． |
