Radial distributions of the temperature and the species concentration were obtained in the test section by the numerical spectrum fitting procedure in a wide range of the input electric power with air and nitrogen as the working gas. Contributions of emission from impurities were incorporated into numerical spectra, from which radial distribution of impurities was determined as well. In an attempt to eliminate such impurities from the nitrogen test flow, ambient gas in the test chamber was replaced with the nitrogen gas before ignition of the heater.
