The cylinder installed in a linear-motor actuator system moves in the air at rest. The results show that the critical Reynolds number above which the self-sustained wake oscillation occurs due to the global instability of cylinder wake increases with the magnitude of the acceleration normalized by the cylinder diameter and the kinematic viscosity.
