In the wake-transition regime of Reynolds number between about 190 and 260, experiments show discontinuous changes of Strouhal number and the existence of two modes; Mode A and Mode B whose span wise characteristic wave length are about 4 D (D: diameter of cylinder) and D respectively. The compressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved with the finite difference method. 4th order penta-diagonal compact scheme with 4th order Runge-Kutta time integration scheme are used for high accuracy and resolution. NSCB which is generalized into the body fitted grid system is applied to the boundary condition. Numerical results show good agreements with experimental data of Strouhal number for both Mode A and B in the wake-transition regime. Span wise characteristic wave lengths for both modes are captured clearly.
