The panels have a high specific rigidity, but are expensive. We have developed light-weight, low-cost sandwich panels using integral molding of CFRP-prepreg and light weight plastic foam. This panel has good workability, and thus higher design flexibility. In this paper, we report recent research results on the light weight sandwich panel, including simulation analysis and fracture tests.
