The SPS consists of the power generation and transmission panel part, the distributed bus part, and tethers connecting them. For the original system and three types of static balance systems, the equilibrium points are found and their stabilities are evaluated by using the principle of minimum potential energy and the numerical simulations. The original system has the stable equilibrium point whereas the panel part is bent. One of the static balance systems has the stable equilibrium point at the design point where the panel part is flat. Then the static balance system is analyzed again as a flexible multi-body system by numerical simulation. The analysis using a flexible body is slightly different from that of rigid body when the elastic deformation becomes
