In order to perform orbital maintenance, a reference trajectory with zero Delta V is designed in advance under a precise model of perturbations. Orbital maintenance maneuvers are then performed such that the reference orbit is maintained. In Europe and the United States, a third- or higher-order analytical solution is used as an initial trajectory for obtaining a reference orbit.
