It is designated as 'SELENE-B', named after the authorized 'SELENE' mission, which is the joint project of NASDA and ISAS. In SELENE-B, it is planned to land on the hazardous area to maximize the scientific return. Thus, the spacecraft is required to detect the obstacles on lunar surface to avoid them. This function is one of the key technologies for future lunar planetary missions.
