Kyushu university, Kyushu institute of technology and Fukuoka institute of technology are developing a polar plasma observation satellite 'QSAT'. QSAT is a small satellite of 50 kg in mass, designed to be launch as a piggy-back payload of H-2A. Most components of QSAT are made of COTS (Consumer Off The Shelf) products. They must be examined for space use because they are qualified only for ground use. We had examined a candidate product of lithium ion secondary battery in launch and operation environment. And then in this study, we examined its tolerance against overcharging because lithium ion battery will inflates and sometimes explodes in overcharging. The battery as a specimen was forced to be overcharged without its built-in safety circuit, and we measured its inflation with a strain gage during charging and discharging. After 15 hours of charging, the battery inflated twice in thickness but it bore without explosion nor leakage. Although this single experiment is not enough to guarantee that the battery never explode in QSAT, it showed some tolerance against overcharging., 資料番号: AA0063965007}, pages = {31--35}, publisher = {宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究本部, Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA/ISAS)}, title = {地上用リチウムイオン2次電池の過充電耐性試験}, year = {2008} }
