'Innovative' means that the project contains some challenging technologies. In this project, wireless energy transmission to a MAV using a microwave phased array antenna has been studied. This paper reports the microwave transmission system composed of a Transmitter System, Tracking System and Rectenna System. In the transmitter system five horn antennas were used for the antenna elements. Each horn antenna transmits 0.7 W power and each phase of microwaves was controlled by the phase shifter connecting a PC. The beam divergence was about 9 deg, which corresponds to the beam quality factor M(sup 2) = 1.6. The beam steering angle was from -13 deg to +13 deg. The rectenna system consists of a receiving antenna with leaf pattern and the rectifier circuit which transforms AC into DC. At first the rectifier circuit was redesigned for high efficiency. The transform efficiency of new circuit was 50 percent in the condition of 700 mW in input power, and 260 Ohm in load resistance. Secondly, to obtain electric power enough to drive an electric motor on the MAV model, eight rectennas were connected in parallel. The rectifier circuit is attached perpendicular to the patch on its back side to minimize the pitch of the antennas and to maximize the power reception efficiency. Output voltage of 250 mV and current of 7.97 mA was obtained at the altitude of 82 cm from the transmitter. At last the electric motor driving demonstration was succeeded while the MAV model was circling over the transmitter by another motor. The output voltages were measured when the beam steering were both fixed and synchronized the circling of MAV model., 資料番号: AA0063965016}, pages = {78--82}, publisher = {宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究本部, Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA/ISAS)}, title = {Power transmission to a MAV}, year = {2008} }
