The Deflection-Limiting Input Shaping for the rest-to-rest maneuver of flexible space structures is demonstrated experimentally. The deflection-limiting input shaping is the method for slewing flexible space structures with both suppression of deflection during the slew and elimination of residual oscillations. The method minimizes the maneuver time subject to constraints on residual vibration magnitude, rest-to-rest distance, and the transient deflection amplitude. A model employed in the experiment is a rigid body equipped with a flexible appendage. Results of the experiment show satisfactory performance.
