However, existence of nonuniform crustal density may affect the results because crustal density of 2,900 kg/m(sup 3) is assumed for the entire Moon. In this article, gravity contribution from the lunar mare basalts is evaluated, as dense as 3,400 kg/m(sup 3) and will correct for them (Mare Mass Correction: MMC) to isolate gravity signals of the MOHO topography. The MMCs are evaluated for eight major mascon basins using Parker\u0027s algorithm, which is used to calculate gravity field of the density contrast. The MMC was the largest for the Mare Imbrium, the largest mascon basin with thick mare basalt, and the MMC was found to amount to as much as 15 percent of the total Bouguer anomaly there.",
