Experimental results on laminar-turbulent transition of Blasius boundary layer subject to Coriolis force normal to the wall have been summarized. Coriolis force toward the wall enhance the three-dimensional instability, rcsulting in the generation of counter-rotating vortices and their secondary instability similar to those on a concave wall. Coriolis force directed outward from the wall, on the other hand, suppresses the three-dimensionality and the transition is delayed, being associated with turbulent spots similar to the stationary boundary layer. |
