An accurate and standard specific impulse measurement system with an overall error not exceeding 0.1% for solid rocket propellants is described. After investigating a con- ventional specific impulse measurement system existing at the National Aerospace Laboratory, some new design concepts, consideration of ballistic evaluation of a solid rocket motor, an accurate thrust stand, and electronic equipment and environmental conditions are discussed. The results of system tests, static calibration and motor firing tests are also described. |
