In the preliminary experiments, electron extraction tests of carbon nanotube cathodes made by thermal chemical vapor deposition and arc discharge process were conducted. The results showed that the carbon nanotube cathodes had sufficient emission capability for the electrodynamic tether application, although its endurance performance was not sufficient in our test.
