Turbulent secondary flow in a rectangular duct is a typical example of coherent structure in turbulent shear flows. The generation of the secondary flow is investigated in the framework of hydrodynamical stability of the corresponding laminar flow and the secondary flow is described as an equilibrium state of growing unstable disturbances. |
