The buckling strength of currugated shear webs was investigated. A finite element program containing a curved strip element was used in the analysis. Effects of geometrical parameters such as ratio of web depth to pitch and ratio of amplitude tp pitch in corrugation were discussed. Bucking stresses obtained from an approximate solution to the corrugated plates by using an anisotropic plate model were compared with those obtained from finite element solutions. Experimental results were obtained from tests performed on polyester corrugated plates and were compared with computed results. |
